DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - Bike Week kicks off in Daytona Beach and is expected to draw thousands.
Sun,shine lifts spirits on Beach Street
DAYTONA BEACH -- Cold temperatures and drizzling rain over the weekend. meant a weary start to Bike Week. But by Sunday he warmer temperatures and the bright sun sitting high overhead brought back the smiles to the faces of visitors and local business owners alike.
Further down the street staff at the Mediterranean Experience restaurant, find business already appeared to be Brisk (and definitely up on last year)
However despite any speculation in the country, it is unlikely that the foul weather or bleak economy will slow business at an event like Daytona Beach's annual Bike Week festivities.
People ride Harleys to forget their everyday problems, weather and economy included.
Down at the Harley Dealership on the beach bikes are selling well.
Despite the bad weather and the worse economy many people are attending the event for the first time. Reports so far have indicated that despite this, people are spending the bulk of their money on food and supplies rather than souvenirs and memorabilia.
After Sunday's break in the weather the gloom had left the vendors perched along Beach Street and they are again hopeful Bike Week will once again be a 'thundering' success !
It was too early to tell on Sunday whether Bike Week's big return to Beach Street this year would increase sales over last year's, but store owners hopes are high.
