Clutch Adjustment
If you try to push it whilst in gear, a perfectly set up Clutch will feel like it's dragging .
This is particularly true of Sportsters as they run a thicker oil in the combined primary and gearbox.
Sitting with the bike in gear at tick over there should be no creeping forward or stalling of the engine.
Nearly all clutch problems arise from poor adjustment, The job isn't hard you just have to take your time and do it by numbers.
1. release all cable adjustment fully
2. adjust the push rod to the book spec's taking care that when you tighten the nut on the pressure
plate you get no creep of the adjusting nut as it is tightened up
3. adjust the cable to the correct free play,
- too tight and you will get clutch slip,
- too loose and the clutch will not disengage correctly.
