The other weekend (11th to 14th August 2011) thousands of bikers gathered in the Midlands to enjoy the 25th anniversary Bulldog Bash hosted by the Hells Angels Motorcycle Club.
The organiser, John ‘Bilbo’ Britt, hailed the return of “low-key policing” to the event, being held at the Shakespeare County Raceway, near Stratford-upon-Avon.
This years return to the ‘’low key policing" of previous years was, according to the police -" designed to be proportionate to the overall threat assessment , flexible and intelligence led " - despite earlier attempts by the police to call a halt on the festival (details)
The bash had previously attracted controversy when Hells Angel Gerry Tobin was murdered after the 2007 Bash. And when bikers clashed at Birmingham Airport in 2008.
It was encouraging to see the number of riders waiting to enter the venue on Thursday.
“I have never seen so many bikes queuing at the main gate. We are pleased so many have chosen to support us in celebrating the 25th year of the Bulldog.”
Opening the event, Stratford District Council chairman Coun Eric Payne said: “I thank the organisers for their support of a number of worthy charities.” click for more Bulldog
